No more cranky

Forgot the Year of the Snake  (Ancient Chinese wisdom says Snake in the house is good omen because it means your family will not starve), lists of New Year resolutions* or new gym membership. This year, I’m keeping my focus on ONE goal. CALM. CALM. AND MORE CALM.  Not just for one month (like the gym) but for ALL 12 months.

The logic being that if I can Keep Calm then good things will follow. This isn’t pie-in-the-sky theorising. It works.

As proven (unwittingly) by my dear friend in Australia. Last year she was catapaulted (her word)  into early menopause at the age of 40 after some particularly awful health issues. Three months later she exploded (I’m simply repeating  verbatim) from a healthy size 12/14 to a chubby goodness-knows-what size and a fabulous wardrobe that’s no longer wearable. She tried everything, including a 30 day juice and vegetable fast. No effect. Still chubby. Maybe she has a snake in her house!! Then over this Christmas summer break, she took a complete hiatus from her hectic life and calmed right down. Gardening. Nanna napping. More gardening. Socializing. gardenAnd Happy Hours on the front porch watching the sunset. Two weeks later, she looked in the mirror and noticed for the first time how much younger and relaxed her face looked. In this new state of calm, she pulled the cobwebs off the bathroom scales and jumped on. 4 kilos lighter and able to wear 50% of her wardrobe now. That’s the Power of Calm.

I’d be happy if More Calm meant keeping the Cranky away. As soon things start going wrong (or not going right), my calm is usually replaced by cranky and it’s downhill from there. So the new 2013 Me is going to do everything possible to KEEP CALM no matter what happens. All and any suggestions on how to keep focused on Keeping Calm will be much appreciated.

Happy New Year
