Olya’s Top 5 Tips to Shine Inside and Out
1. Morning routine.
The very first moment I wake up, I meditate for at least 5 minutes to discover how I am feeling . Am I happy? Inspired? Tired? Worried? Carefree?
Acknowledging how you feel is one of the most useful practices in meditation- it sets you on the path of how you are going to treat yourself for the rest of the day. If I’m feeling a little worn down, I make list of things I am going to do exclusively for myself. Regardless if it’s going to be a treat (e.g. a luxury facial, having my nails done, or just a short 5 minutes chocolate break) – I know I’m going to be so much better for it.
2. Smart exercise.
As a yoga instructor, I notice that new workout trends often decide people’s choice of exercise. Alas, it can come with side effects. Even if you have lost a stone, are your muscles sore most of the time? Are you falling asleep in the afternoon after that incredible spin class? I’m sure it was good , but was it worth it? Maybe it’s worth reminding yourself that you are not training to be superwoman, and then doing some research or checking with a personal trainer what’s the right kind of exercise for your type of personality and your lifestyle. Just a thought…
3. Food philosophy.
My eating philosophy is all about being informed. I do not let anybody tell me what to eat and when, but I know the consequences. I mean, if you have had an indulging week of late dinners, your body *is* going to struggle with it. I make things easier for my body and soul by scheduling a detox the next week. It’s not only going to affect the state of your guts, but also your levels of energy, your mood and your spirit. Lymphatic drainage massage is one thing you can do to help your body cope with detoxing.
4. Your choice.
A while ago I stopped doing things because they are cool and are people-pleasing. For instance, I am not going to watch Game of Thrones. No Pokemon Go for me either. I’m going to go out and watch the sun set instead, because I know it’s going to make me feel great. Even if it sounds a bit cheesy it’s about doing what you want to do and what makes you feel good.
5. Be beautiful.
Beauty will save the world. I’m convinced of it, therefore I always keep myself surrounded with things I consider beautiful. This includes the music on my phone, the book i carry in my handbag and the handbag itself. I love smells, so I keep a huge collection of essential oils – I chose the one that fits my mood in the evening and light an oil burner too. Heaven.
